Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Please drink plenty of water the day before, and the day of your procedure. Dehydration can make it more challenging to draw your blood and can decrease the amount of plasma within the blood collected. 
  • Do not apply anything to the area to be treated. This includes, but is not limited to, lotions, colognes, makeup, serums, and/or powders. 
  • Avoid alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) seven (7) days prior to your treatment, as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.
  • If you are currently taking anti-coagulation medications (Warfarin, Coumadin, Heparin, Lovenox, Enoxaparin, Lepirudin, Refludan, Ticlopidine Ticlid, Clopidogrel, Plavix, Tirofiban, Aggrastat, Eptifibatide, Integrilin, etc) you are not a candidate for this procedure. 
  • You are not a candidate for this procedure if you are: pregnant, breast feeding, have cancer and/or are undergoing chemotherapy or other treatments, have a history of keloid scar development, history of HgB (hemoglobin) less than ten (10), platelet count less than 105, local infection, hematologic/coagulation disorders, history of untreated thyroid disorders, untreated anemia, history of untreated vitamin D deficiency, body dysmorphic disorder, history of untreated PCOS, untreated hyperandrogenism syndromes, diagnosis of HIV/AIDs. 
  • In addition, you are not a candidate to use PRP for hair loss if you have: severe scalp psoriasis, traumatic alopecia, pseudopelade, trichotillomania, infection, an/or injury to the scalp. 
  • If you are having a PRP treatment for hair loss do not color your hair for 48-72 hours prior to your treatment. 
  • Avoid spray tanning and/or self-tanners for two (2) weeks prior to the procedure. 
  • If you are prone to cold sores (oral herpes simplex) in the area to be treated, take your prescribed medication (Famvir, Famciclovir, Valtrex, Valacyclovir, Acyclovir) as prescribed in the 24 hours prior to your treatment.
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC if you develop a cold sore, acne, or open lesions in the area you are expecting to treat or if you experience any type of illness prior to your treatment.
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC of any changes to your health history, medications, or if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant since your last appointment.
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC if you have used oral isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past. Use within a six (6) month period of treatment may be a contraindication.

Post-Treatment Instructions

  •  If using PRP in combination with other procedures, for example microneedling, please be sure to follow those post-treatment instructions in addition to these. Failure to follow all post-treatment instructions could lead to poor and/or adverse outcomes.  
  • Avoid alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) the day of your procedure, as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.
  • If you experience discomfort to the treatment area you may apply ice or Take Acetaminophen. Remember to not put ice directly onto the skin.
  • The area injected with PRP may be tender to touch for up to 72 hours post procedure. You may notice some bruising in the areas that PRP was injected, this is normal, and typically resolves in 1-2 weeks. 
  • Oral or topical Arnica Montana, an herbal supplement, may help with reducing bruising caused by cosmetic treatments. DO NOT take Arnica Montana if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • If PRP was injected to the scalp for the treatment of hair loss you may wash the hair gently with shampoo the day of the procedure. Do not dye your hair for 72 hours post procedure. 
  • If signs and symptoms of infection develop and persist (warmth at the site of injection, discharge/pus, pain/discomfort) or if you develop a fever, please contact Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC so we may assist you.

Injectables Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Do not wear makeup to your appointment or be prepared to remove it. Makeup harbors bacteria and if it is not removed prior to injection, it may increase the risk of infection. We attempt to remove all makeup thoroughly, but it is safer not to wear any.
  • Avoid alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) 24 hours prior to your treatment, as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.
  • If you are currently taking anti-coagulation medications (Warfarin, Coumadin, Heparin, Lovenox, Enoxaparin, Lepirudin, Refludan, Ticlopidine Ticlid, Clopidogrel, Plavix, Tirofiban, Aggrastat, Eptifibatide, Integrilin, etc), discuss the use of these medications with your healthcare provider prior to your treatment. Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Avoid applying pressure or touching the treated area for six (6) hours after the procedure. After six (6) hours the area can then be gently washed with a cleanser and water. You may resume makeup use at this time.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for AT LEAST 24 hours post treatment.
  • No bending forward for four (4) hours. 
  • Avoid vigorous scrubs, exfoliation, or facial treatment in the area of treatment for fourteen (14) days after the procedure.
  •  Avoid laying down or reclining for four (4) hours after injection. 
  • Avoid prolonged sun or UV exposure. 
  • Avoid saunas and steam baths for two (2) weeks after injections.
  • If signs and symptoms of infection develop and persist (warmth at the site of injection, discharge/pus, pain/discomfort) or if you develop a fever, please contact Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC so we may assist you.

Wrinkle Relaxer/Neuromodulator Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Avoid scratching, rubbing, massaging, touching, or applying pressure to the injected area. 
  • Avoid wearing a hat or any headwear that could put pressure on the treated area for at least 24 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for AT LEAST 24 hours post treatment. 
  • Avoid laying down of reclining for four (4) hours after injection. 
  • No bending forward for four (4) hours.
  • Avoid prolonged sun or UV exposure. 
  • Avoid saunas and steam baths for two (2) weeks after injections.
  • It may take up to fourteen (14) days for wrinkle relaxers/neuromodulators to take full effect.
  • A follow-up visit two (2) weeks after treatment is suggested to assess results for subsequent treatments, particularly if you are a first-time patient. If full correction is not achieved, you may need to purchase additional product for injection.
  • Oral or topical Arnica Montana, an herbal supplement, may help with reducing bruising caused by cosmetic treatments. DO NOT take Arnica Montana if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Wrinkle relaxers/neuromodulators typically last 2.5 to 4 months.  
  • Regular injections usually yield a longer lasting result.
  • If you have had your horizontal forehead lines treated and you feel as though your eyebrows are too heavy, the treatment may not be optimal for you, or we may need to adjust your dose. Please let your provider know.
  • If your upper lip was treated, you may not be able to drink through a straw, whistle, or enunciate some words.

Chemical Peel Pre-Treatment Instructions (including SkinMedica® peels)

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Do not wear any makeup to your appointment or be prepared to remove it. Thoroughly washing and drying the skin to remove any makeup, lotion, or sunscreen is required.
  • Avoid active sun exposure and tanning beds for approximately two (2) weeks prior to the treatment. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ if the treatment area is exposed to UVA and UVB rays.
  • Avoid the use of topical self-tanners in the treatment area for approximately two (2) weeks prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue the use of Retinoid medication (Retinol, Tretinoin, Retin-A, Atralin, Adapalene, Differin, Tazarotene, Tazorac, etc) and OTC anti-aging products containing Retinol, Retinaldehyde, or Vitamin A for one (1) week prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue the use of Hydroquinone products 2-3 days prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue the use of topical exfoliating agents (Glycolics, Alpha or Beta-Dydroxy Acids) for 2-3 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid, if possible, Ibuprofen and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) for three (3) days prior to treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores (oral herpes simplex), take your prescribed medication (Famvir, Famciclovir, Valtrex, Valacyclovir, Acyclovir) as prescribed in the 24 hours prior to your treatment.
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC if you develop a cold sore, acne, or open lesions in the area you are expecting to treat or if you experience any type of illness prior to your treatment.

Chemical Peel Post-Treatment Instructions (NOT including SkinMedica® peels)

Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Do not get the treated area wet, apply products, or apply makeup for six (6) hours post procedure, as this could reactivate the chemicals. This includes showers, perspiration, misting spray, products, makeup, etc.
  • Avoid heat and keep the skin cool during the first 48 hours post treatment. Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation. Avoid direct hot water spray, hot tubs, steam rooms, and saunas. Do not participate in activities that may cause excessive perspiration.
  • The skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for the first 48-72 hours post treatment.
  • After 48 hours, a slight flaking may occur for 3-5 days. Flaking can easily be controlled with moisturizers. Do not pick, peel, or scratch the flaking. Do not use any means of exfoliation or loofahs. This may result in scarring or hyperpigmentation.
  • Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ containing UVA/UVB protection with sun blockers such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide on the treated area daily if exposed to the sun.
  • Avoid prolonged sun or UV exposure. 
  • To minimize side effects and maximize results, apply post procedural products as instructed by your practitioner.
  • You may resume normal skin care regimen, including the use of Retinoid medications, topical exfoliating agents, and Hydroquinone products, only after the peeling process is complete.

  •  A history of herpes or cold sores may require a course of anti-viral medication pre and post treatment.

  Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Do NOT apply any creams, lotions, perfumes, or makeup to the treatment areas prior to treatment. 
  •  Please arrive to your appointment with a clean face. 
  • Do NOT use for three (3) days prior to your procedure: Retin-A, retinoids, or similar vitamin A compounds, harsh scrubs or exfoliating products, or bleaching creams. 
  • Do NOT have any dental work, including teeth cleaning, two (2) weeks prior and one (1) month post treatment. 
  • Gentlemen: Shave the treatment area one (1) day before your scheduled treatment unless otherwise directed. 
  • To decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment, endure you have a recent meal, including both food and drink, before your procedure. Please tell the office if you have a history of fainting. 
  • Schedule your KYBELLA® appointment at least 2-4 weeks prior to any special event, such as a wedding or vacation, due to prolonged post procedure bruising and swelling. 
  • Avoid spray tanning and/or self-tanners for two (2) weeks prior to the procedure. 
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications 10-14 days prior and 3-4 days post treatment. Medications such as: aspirin, vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega /Fish Oil supplements, ibuprofen/Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDs have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
  • Prior to discontinuing any medications discuss with your prescriber. 
  • Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages one (1) week prior to treatment as alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising or other complication. 
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC if you have used oral isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past. Use within a six (6) month period of treatment may be a contraindication.

  • Avoid extreme temperature if heat for 24 hours post treatment (ex: Jacuzzi, hot showers, etc.). 
  • Do NOT consume alcohol or sodium for three (3) days post treatment to avoid excess swelling. 
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours post treatment. 
  • Sleep on your back with you head elevated to decrease swelling. 
  • Do NOT massage the injection site. 
  • Ice packs should be used to the treated areas for 15 minutes every hour for the first 12-24 hours and then as needed.
  • If you tolerate, and do NOT have any contraindications to ibuprofen, take 200mg every eight (8) hours starting the day of treatment and for the following four (4) days.

  • Avoid alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) 24 hours prior to your treatment, as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.

Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Immediate pinpoint bleeding may occur at the treatment area. This should resolve within 10 minutes.
  • Minor redness, swelling, and pinpoint bruising may occur for 24-72 hours, in some cases longer, post procedure. It is normal for your skin to take up to seven (7) days to feel normal. 
  • Minor peeling and/or flaking may occur for 2-5 days, in some cases longer. Do not pick, peel, or scratch the peeling and/or flaking. Do not exfoliate by any means. This may result in scarring or hyperpigmentation.  
  • Do not apply makeup to the treated area for the 24-48 hours post treatment. 
  • Cleanse the skin with Cetaphil Gentile Skin Cleanser only until area treated returns to normal. 
  • To minimize side effects and maximize results, only apply the post procedural products supplied for the first 24-48 hours post treatment as instructed. 
  • Avoid prolonged sun or UV exposure. 
  • After 24-48 hours post procedure, use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ containing UVA/UVB protection with sun blockers such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide on the treated area daily if exposed to the sun.
  • Avoid heat and keep the skin cool for 72 hours post procedure. Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation. Avoid direct hot water spray, hot tubs, steam rooms, and saunas. Do not participate in activities that may cause excessive perspiration.
  • Avoid products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, retinol, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, astringents, etc.) until the treated area is fully healed. 
  • You may resume normal skin care regimen, including the use of Retinoid medications, topical exfoliating agents, and Hydroquinone products after the treated area is fully healed and not peeling and/or flaking.
  • Follow-up in four (4) weeks.​

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Sculptra® Aesthetic is indicated for use in immune-competent people.  
  • Do not wear makeup to your appointment or be prepared to remove it. Makeup harbors bacteria and if it is not removed prior to injection, it may increase the risk of infection. We attempt to remove all makeup thoroughly, but it is safer not to wear any.
  • Avoid alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) 24 hours prior to your treatment, as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.
  • If you are currently taking anti-coagulation medications (Warfarin, Coumadin, Heparin, Lovenox, Enoxaparin, Lepirudin, Refludan, Ticlopidine Ticlid, Clopidogrel, Plavix, Tirofiban, Aggrastat, Eptifibatide, Integrilin, etc), discuss the use of these medications with your healthcare provider prior to your treatment. You may not be a candidate for treatment with cosmetic injectables and/or other cosmetic procedures. 
  • Avoid spray tanning and/or self-tanners for two (2) weeks prior to the procedure. 
  •  If you are prone to cold sores (oral herpes simplex), take your prescribed medication (Famvir, Famciclovir, Valtrex, Valacyclovir, Acyclovir) as prescribed in the 24 hours prior to your treatment.
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC if you develop a cold sore, acne, or open lesions in the area you are expecting to treat or if you experience any type of illness prior to your treatment.
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC of any changes to your health history, medications, or if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant since your last appointment.
  • Notify Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC if you have used oral isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past. Use within a six (6) month period of treatment may be a contraindication.



Post-Treatment Instructions

  • IMPORTANT: Massage the treated area for five (5) minutes, five (5) times a day, for five (5) days. This allows for the product to be distributed evenly. Failing to adhere to post-procedure treatment instructions, to include but limited to massage, could lead to poor outcomes and adverse effects, and/or complications.  
  • Within the first 24 hours after your treatment, apply ice or an ice pack, wrapped in a cloth (avoid putting ice directly on your skin) to the treatment area to help reduce swelling. 
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and exposure to extensive sun, UV lamps, indoor tanning beds/booths, or extreme temperatures within the first 24 hours after treatment. 
  • If signs and symptoms of infection develop and persist (warmth at the site of injection, discharge/pus, pain/discomfort) or if you develop a fever, please contact Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC so we may assist you. 
  • Oral or topical Arnica Montana, an herbal supplement, may help with reducing bruising caused by cosmetic treatments. DO NOT take Arnica Montana if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • For pain/discomfort use cool packs and over-the-counter analgesics (Acetaminophen, Tylenol). Severe pain should be reported to Rouge Medical Aesthetics LLC immediately.

PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY AT (860) 342-8779 FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Severe pain at the injection site.
  • Swelling, redness, or drainage that starts after 48 hours.
  • Blanching (whitening) of an area that was injected.
  • Other adverse effects, complications, or unexplained outcomes.
